New Linen Scarf

I cast on a whole bunch of stitches on circular needles and knit a few rows in stockinette.
Voila!
A new linen scarf.
After I blocked the scarf and added the shell and bead details to the ends.

Valentine's day cards

This top one I gave to Jeff
and the bottom one I mailed to my sister.
Just some fun little drawings.

"Cat Head" Biscuits

From finished product to humble beginnings.

This recipe for "cat head" biscuits was come to from a combination between Martha Stewart's recipe for buttermilk biscuits, the recipe for biscuits in Grandma's Country Cookbook and the taste testing of my southern sweetheart.

Ingredients:
4 cups all purpose whole wheat flour
1 tablespoon and 1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup of shortening (crisco)
13/4 cups of buttermilk plus extra to brush on top.

Preheat the oven to 375degreesF
Sift 4 cups of whole wheat flour, 1 tablespoon and 1 teaspoon of baking powder, 1 teaspoon of baking soda and one teaspoon of salt in a large mixing bowl.
Using a pastry blender cut in one cup of cut up shortening. Blend until it looks like lumpy wet sand at the beach.
Pour in 1 3/4 cups of buttermilk and fold in with the spatula. Be very careful not to over mix. Once it all sticks together you can move the dough unto a floured surface to shape and cut out the biscuits with a pint glass or a fancy biscuit cutter. To make "cat head" biscuits the biscuits need to be big :)
Brush the tops of the biscuits with extra buttermilk and bake for 18 to 20 minutes. Let cool on a wire rack.
